About this job
Our company in Hamilton, ON is looking for an experienced hook lift (roll-off) driver to move waste and recycling containers, plus handle some flatbed tree deliveries with tarping and light labour.
Pay
- $25.00-$32.00 per hour, full-time
What you'll haul
- Containers of waste and recyclable material using a hook lift truck
- Trees on a flatbed, including tarping loads and unloading plants
What you'll do
- Pick up, haul, and drop off containers at assigned sites
- Load and unload following company rules and regulations
- Do pre-trip and post-trip vehicle checks
- Handle basic upkeep and flag mechanical problems right away
- Keep accurate records of pickups and deliveries
- Stay in touch with dispatch, coworkers, and customers about scheduling and service needs
- Help run forklifts or other heavy equipment during loading when needed
- Follow provincial and federal rules for commercial driving and hauling waste
Requirements
- Valid DZ licence, at minimum
- Hands-on experience running a hook lift (roll-off) truck is mandatory
- Must be able to drive both manual and automatic transmissions, no exceptions
- 3 years of commercial driving in a related field preferred
- Heavy equipment experience is a plus
- Some mechanical or automotive know-how for routine upkeep is an asset
- Careful, procedure-focused approach to the work
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Clean driving record required
