About this job
Our company, part of GFL, needs a full-time DZ driver to run front-end waste collection routes out of Ottawa, ideally based in Cornwall. This is a permanent role reporting to the Operations Manager, focused on safe, on-time pickups and solid customer service.
What you'll do
- Run your assigned route for the day, keeping safety and schedule on track.
- Pull up to customer locations, position, raise and empty bins into the front-end truck, then set bins back in place.
- Haul loads to the correct transfer station, landfill or drop-off point and follow that site's rules.
- Handle customer needs the way company policy calls for.
- Check the truck over before and after each shift, including climbing up to inspect loads when needed.
- Check in with dispatch and fill out your paperwork accurately at shift's end.
- Stay in touch with operations management and flag any problems that come up.
- Take on other tasks the Operations Manager assigns.
Requirements
- High school diploma; further courses or a post-secondary diploma are a plus.
- One to two years driving in the waste industry.
- Five years behind the wheel of a DZ vehicle is preferred.
- Front-end truck experience is preferred.
- Familiarity with the waste industry helps.
- Good communicator who works well with people, stays customer-focused, and can juggle priorities safely.
