About this job
Matrec, a division of our company, needs a full-time DZ driver to run front-end waste collection routes out of Ottawa, ideally living in Cornwall. You'll report to the Operations Manager and keep collections running safely and on time while taking care of customers.
Schedule
- Permanent, full-time role, 5 days a week
- Shift runs 6:00am to 4:00pm
What you'll do
- Run your assigned route each day, driving safely and staying on schedule
- Pull up to customer locations, position and lift bins into the front-end truck, empty them, and set them back in place
- Haul loads to the correct transfer station, landfill, or drop-off site, following that facility's rules
- Handle customer needs the way company policy expects
- Check the truck over before and after each shift, including climbing up to inspect loads when needed
- Check in with dispatch and fill out your paperwork accurately at the end of the day
- Stay in touch with operations management and flag any problems that come up
- Take on other tasks the Operations Manager assigns
Requirements
- High school diploma; further courses or a diploma are a plus
- 1 to 2 years driving in the waste industry
- 5 years behind the wheel of a DZ vehicle preferred
- Front-end truck experience preferred
- Familiarity with the waste industry is a plus
- Good communication and people skills, with a customer-first attitude
- Able to juggle tasks, set priorities, and work safely
