DZ Driver Labourer — Solid Waste Collection

Kingston's Solid Waste division needs driver labourers to run recycling, organics and garbage trucks around the city, with up to 3 positions open. The job combines commercial driving with physical collection work, and pay includes extra amounts on top of your hourly wage.

Pay

• Hourly wage, plus 4% paid in place of vacation and 13% paid in place of benefits

What you'll do

• Drive and operate recycling, organics and garbage trucks

• Carry out physical collection duties alongside the driving

• Work outdoors in all weather

• Deal with the public courteously

Schedule

• You may get a call at 5:00 a.m. and be expected to report that same day

• Be ready to work any shift assigned

• Some Saturday and/or Sunday shifts are needed following a statutory holiday

Requirements

• High school diploma (Grade 12) or equivalent

• At least 2 years of experience driving commercial vehicles and doing physically demanding work

• Valid DZ licence with a clean abstract (no more than 3 demerit points)

• Waste collection driver labourer experience is preferred

• Familiarity with Solid Waste operations and routes is a plus

• Able to pass written and road tests before moving to interview

• New hires must complete pre-trip inspection training and pass the related test within 30 working days of starting

• Must pass a criminal record check

• May need to show proof of Tetanus and Hepatitis B immunity
