About this job
Our company is hiring a Class A CDL driver to run a tractor-trailer moving waste and recyclable materials around Tazewell, VA. You'll haul loads between landfills, transfer stations and other company sites on local or regional routes, working in a fast-paced, safety-driven environment.
What you'll haul
- Waste and recyclable materials moved by semi-truck between transfer stations, landfills and other designated sites
- Routes stay local or regional
What you'll do
- Secure loads properly and drive your assigned routes safely and on schedule
- Run pre-trip and post-trip equipment checks, flagging any mechanical problems
- Keep accurate logs, scale tickets and other required paperwork
- Stay in touch with dispatch on routing and load instructions
- Follow DOT and FMCSA rules, including Hours of Service limits
- Help out with yard tasks like spotting trailers or staging equipment
- Represent the company professionally at job sites and with facility staff
Requirements
- Valid Class A CDL
- Current DOT medical card
- Clean enough driving record to meet insurance standards
- At least 2 years of Class A driving experience
- Able to pass a drug/alcohol screen and background check
- Comfortable working outdoors in all kinds of weather
- High school diploma or GED preferred; prior waste-industry or roll-off experience is a plus
