About this job
Our company Inc. is hiring a Class 1 yard shunter driver in Berwick, Nova Scotia. You will run a day cab around the terminal yard, moving trailers between docks, lanes and staging spots. It is a fixed day-shift job, home every day.
Pay and schedule
- $26.01 per hour
- About 45 hours a week, Monday to Friday, with weekends off
- Day shifts that begin at 6:00 AM
- 4% vacation pay that accumulates as you work
- Blue Cross benefits start on your first day
What you'll do
- Shunt trailers in the yard with a day cab, including spotting and swapping them
- Stay in contact with dispatch, dock crews and operations so the daily schedule runs smoothly
- Work with curtain side trailers, which means pulling and pushing the curtains open and closed
- Crank dolly legs up and down many times each shift
Requirements
- A valid Class 1 license
- At least 2 years of driving experience on Class 1 that can be verified
- Comfortable driving a manual transmission
- A driver's abstract issued within the last 30 days
- A security background check, completed in-house
- Curtain side trailer experience is a bonus
