About this job
Our company Ltd is hiring a Class 1 Truck Driver in Argentia, NL to move freight safely across the island. Pay combines an hourly rate with mileage pay.
Pay
- $25.00-$26.50 per hour, plus mileage pay
What you'll do
- Haul freight to assigned destinations on schedule
- Complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections
- Load and unload cargo, including containers
- Log your hours, mileage and fuel accurately
- Stay in contact with dispatch on delivery timing and issues
- Handle minor truck repairs when needed
- Run heavy equipment and forklifts for loading or unloading
Requirements
- Valid Class 1 license with 3 years of Canadian driving experience including winter conditions, plus references
- Clean driving abstract
- Container handling experience preferred
- Basic mechanical repair skills a plus
- Solid grasp of freight safety rules
- Port experience considered an asset
