About this job
Penske is looking for a part-time Hiker to move vehicles between Penske locations and customer sites out of its Atlanta East location in Duluth, GA. You'll mainly drive box trucks up to 26 feet, with CDL-A drivers also handling tractors and trailers, and you may occasionally help deliver parts and equipment for the service department.
Schedule
- Casual, on-call, part-time work, Monday through Friday, 7:00am to 2:00pm
- Hours range from 0 to 25 per week depending on business needs, making this a good fit for extra income
What you'll do
- Drive trucks safely to Penske or customer locations following proper procedures
- Inspect vehicles for mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment issues and report any problems to the location manager
- Get signatures or receipts for deliveries and collect payment when needed
- Report any accidents, traffic violations, defects, or damage
- Take on other tasks assigned by your supervisor
Requirements
- At least 2 years of driving experience with a clean driving record over that time
- Valid Class B CDL required; Class A CDL preferred
- Must live in the U.S. and hold a license in your state of residence
- Able to read and follow written instructions, work independently, and bring strong customer service and organizational skills
- English language proficiency, per federal DOT requirements
- Reliable, predictable attendance
- Must maintain a current driver qualification file per DOT rules, including an annual MVR check, a DOT physical, and a safety history review from past employers; CDL holders must complete a drug screening within 30 days of starting and are subject to FMCSA Clearinghouse checks
- Willing to travel as needed, work the required schedule and location, and pass a background check (employment, education, criminal history) and drug screening
- Able to regularly lift up to 50 lbs and occasionally up to 100 lbs, move, stand, walk, sit, and safely get in and out of the cab and cargo area
- This is a safety-sensitive, DOT-regulated role requiring constant alertness
