About this job
Dot Transportation (DTI) is hiring CDL-A drivers to haul food industry freight from suppliers to customers and distribution centers, with multiple schedule options and regular time at home. Pay is based on the work you complete, not just miles driven, and both solo and team positions are open.
Pay
- You're paid for different parts of the job: miles driven, qualifying stops, pickups, drop-and-hook activity, and deliveries ($0.16 per case plus $0.37 per line item)
- Typical earnings run around $2,000 a week, though this depends on experience, route and workload
- New drivers with under 200,000 verified regional/OTR miles average about $90,000 a year; drivers with more experience average $104,000 or more, and top performers can earn beyond that
Home time
- Choose between a 6-days-on/3-days-off rotation, a traditional schedule of roughly 5.5 days on the road (the higher-paying option), or a team driving arrangement
- Whichever schedule you pick, you're brought home at least once a week, with dispatch aiming to keep routes predictable
What you'll haul
- Dry and temperature-controlled food industry freight moving between Dot Foods suppliers, customers, and distribution centers
- Some positions involve no-touch freight; others require loading and unloading
What the job involves
- Driving in all weather and at all hours, including nights, weekends and holidays
- Multi-day trips depending on your schedule
- Working directly with customers and warehouse staff during stops
- Keeping an eye on fuel use, idle time and speed to run efficiently
- Occasional lifting, averaging 14 pounds and up to 60 pounds when needed

- Class A CDL, or you can train for one through DTI's program
- Willingness to obtain HazMat and Tanker endorsements
- Valid DOT medical card, or ability to get one
- Must pass a Physical Ability Test
- English communication skills as required by FMCSA
- Either graduated from a CDL school with 140+ hours of training, or have at least six months of CDL-A driving experience
- High school diploma or GED is a plus
Benefits
- Medical and dental coverage
- 401(k) with profit-sharing
- Paid time off and holidays
- Paid training opportunities, including for new CDL holders
- In-house dispatch and maintenance support
