About this job
Our company needs a CDL-A truck driver in Hazlehurst, MS for 2nd shift. You'll haul live poultry from growers to the processing plant, or move feed to and from grower farms, while following all DOT and safety rules.
What you'll do
- Complete and log pre-trip checks on tires, oil, fuel, lights, brakes, hoses and other equipment
- Help load and unload the trailer when needed
- Make sure every load is secured before you move
- Keep accurate records of equipment, hours, trips and weights
- Keep your truck clean and report any mechanical issues to your supervisor
- Follow all DOT, state, federal and company safety rules
Schedule
This is a 2nd shift position. Expect to work nights, weekends, holidays and long shifts, often outdoors in all weather.
Requirements
- At least 21 years old
- Valid Class A CDL with 1 year of clean, verifiable driving history
- Working knowledge of DOT and state/federal trucking laws
- Able to read and write clearly
- Self-motivated and able to work without close supervision
- Strong work ethic and honesty
Preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prior experience hauling live poultry in a tractor trailer
- Basic math skills
Physical demands
- Sit and drive up to 10 hours per shift, climbing in and out of the cab regularly
- Lift as much as 75 lbs
- Work outdoors in all weather, plus exposure to live animal odors and noise levels above 85 decibels
- Wear required PPE at all times
