About this job
This fleet is looking for brand-new CDL-A drivers who've just finished truck driving school to train with a mentor and then take over their own truck. You'll run dry van freight across every state west of the Mississippi, from the Northwest down to Texas, with home time every two weeks.
Pay
- Training phase: $675 paid weekly while you ride with an experienced mentor for 3 to 5 weeks (200-250 hours)
- Orientation: $300 once hired, plus bus fare reimbursement with a receipt
- Solo pay: starts at $0.50 per mile, with a $1,000 weekly guarantee for your first 3 months
- Fleet-wide average is $1,400 to $1,500 a week, running about 2,000 miles weekly
- Stops pay $15 each, and there's a monthly performance bonus on top
Home time
You'll be home every two weeks. Some weekend driving is part of the job, and dispatch plans loads to keep your hours full on the open western highways.
What you'll haul
Dry van freight running the western half of the country, from the Pacific Northwest down to Texas. Trucks are late-model, averaging about a year and a half old, and come in both automatic and 10-speed manual configurations.
Requirements
- Valid Class A CDL, age 21 or older
- Graduated from a CDL-A driving school with at least 120 hours of training
- No more than 2 moving violations in the past 2 years
- No DUI or DWI within the last 10 years
- Must pass a DOT physical along with a hair and urine drug screen
Benefits
After 30 days you're eligible for medical, prescription, dental and vision coverage, a 401(k) with a stock purchase option, and life, disability, accident and critical illness coverage. The company also offers a tuition-free online degree program for you and one dependent. Once you're running solo, you can bring an approved dog up to 40 pounds, and there's an adult rider program too.
