Pay
- Linehaul work pays $0.7162 to $0.8290 per mile, plus fixed pay for certain linehaul-related tasks calculated as a fraction (3/4, 1/2, or 1/4) of the hourly rate rather than actual time spent.
- Non-linehaul duties pay $31.26 to $36.18 per hour.
- Actual pay depends on factors like experience, tenure, location, performance, schedule and assignment.
What you'll haul
- Trailers moved via tractor-trailer combinations, including double and triple setups.
- You'll hook and unhook trailers and converter dollies, and may occasionally load or unload freight.
- In some cases you may be asked to cover city driver or dock duties when needed.
Requirements
- Class A CDL with double/triple, hazardous materials, and tank endorsements (automatic transmission restriction is fine). The hazmat endorsement must be obtained within 120 days of your offer being accepted, and you can't drive without it.
- At least 1 year of driving experience in the last 3 years, or completion of the our company Driver Development Course.
- Clean enough motor vehicle record to meet hiring standards, and you must satisfy DOT requirements under FMC regulation section 391.
- Basic reading, writing and verbal communication skills for logs, paperwork and talking with dispatch and supervisors.
- Able to lift/pull around 100 pounds repeatedly while connecting and disconnecting trailers, sit for long stretches, and climb in and out of the truck.
- Comfortable working solo or with a team, following instructions, and completing required training.
- If driving in AZ, CO, FL, ID, IN, KS, MT, ND, NV, OH, OK, OR, SD or UT, you'll need to meet the Long Combination Vehicle qualification and certification standards for triples, Rocky Mountain Doubles, or Turnpike Doubles.
Working conditions
- Long-distance driving in all weather, day or night, on various road types.
- Exposure to noise, vibration, dust, diesel exhaust, and DOT-regulated hazardous materials.
- Schedules and hours can shift based on business needs, and some routes may require overnight stays.
- You may need to chain tires when conditions call for it.
Benefits
Eligible employees get medical, dental and vision coverage, an employee assistance program, paid sick/personal time, a 401(k), bonus potential, tuition reimbursement, adoption assistance, paid parental and bereavement leave, employee discounts, and for full-time staff, paid vacation and holidays.
