About this job
Our company needs experienced Class A tanker drivers for regional and local food-grade routes out of Morristown, IN. This family-owned carrier moves food-grade products like soybean oil, corn syrup and chocolate for major food manufacturers, with newer equipment and fewer nights away from home than typical OTR work.
Pay
- $1,400 guaranteed minimum pay each week
- Drivers typically bring home $70,000-$80,000+ per year, with top earners topping $90,000
- Quarterly bonus for safe driving
- Extra pay per load on weekends
- $75 for overnight DOT breaks spent in the truck
- Referral bonuses with no cap
- Paid every week by direct deposit
- Orientation and tanker-specific training pay at $200 a day
Home time
You'll get home more than once a week, with many routes starting in the afternoon or evening. Freight is a mix of local out-and-back runs and regional trips, with far fewer overnights than standard long-haul work. Some longer loads that pay more may keep you out 2-3 nights. You can park your truck at home or at the terminal, and some runs let you drive at night when traffic is lighter. Note that time home and overnight stretches depend on what customers need.
What you'll haul
You'll run food-grade tanker freight, moving between drop-and-hook and live load/unload jobs. Trucks are late-model and come with free XM radio. The company emphasizes strong driver support and a family-style culture.
Requirements
- Current Class A CDL
- At least 12 months of recent tractor-trailer experience
- 21 years of age or older
- Tanker endorsement (reimbursed after you're hired)
- Clean driving record
- Able to pass a DOT physical, drug screen and ergonomic/capability test
- Able to read, write and speak English
On the job, you'll be expected to haul food-grade loads safely, keep accurate ELD logs and paperwork, do pre- and post-trip inspections, stay in professional contact with dispatch and customers, follow FMCSA and company safety rules, and plan your routes well.
Benefits
- Medical, dental, vision and life insurance
- 401(k) with a company match
- Paid holidays and paid vacation/PTO
