About this job
Our company is looking for a CDL-A Over the Road driver to haul parcels and freight across short and long-haul routes, based near Earth City, MO.
What you'll do
- Operate a Class A commercial vehicle over 26,001 lbs, picking up and delivering cargo safely and on schedule
- Follow DOT, state and local driving rules, and report any incidents or road issues right away
- Keep your ELD logs accurate and take rest breaks as required by law
- Check your truck before and after each trip, fuel and clean it, and flag any maintenance needs
- Fill out bills of lading and other freight paperwork with correct dates and signatures
- Secure loads properly using straps, load bars or e-track
- Keep your dispatcher updated on your progress, breaks and stop completions throughout the day
- Occasionally load or unload freight, or run a forklift or pallet jack, when you're not driving
What they're looking for
- Valid Class A CDL
- Clean driving record: no more than 3 moving violations in the last 36 months (or 2 in the last 12 months, including seatbelt and phone violations)
- No preventable accidents involving a fatality, injury requiring treatment away from the scene, or major vehicle damage in the past 3 years
- No DUI or impaired driving convictions in the past 7 years
- Current DOT medical card, and ability to pass a DOT physical and road test
- TSA driver certification with an STA number (required once hired)
- Cargo screening certification if driving in California
- Comfortable reading and writing English, with basic knowledge of geography and airport codes
- Strong attention to detail, time management, and ability to keep pace in a busy environment
- A reliable, independent worker who takes ownership of the job and works well with the team
- Must live within about an hour's commute of Earth City, MO to attend on-site activities
