About this job

This is a 1099 OTR opportunity hauling 100% no-touch reefer and dry van freight across the eastern half of the country, with strong per-mile pay on both loaded and empty miles.

Pay

  • Reefer freight pays $0.90 per mile
  • Dry van freight pays $0.85 per mile
  • You're paid for qualifying loaded and empty miles alike, since you're driving either way
  • Around 2,600-3,500+ miles may be available each week, depending on freight, routing, appointments, hours-of-service limits, weather, traffic and other conditions
  • Pay is deposited weekly
  • Example gross figures before taxes or deductions: at 90 CPM, 2,600 miles runs $2,340, 3,000 miles runs $2,700, 3,200 miles runs $2,880, and 3,500 miles runs $3,150; at 85 CPM, those same mileages gross $2,210, $2,550, $2,720 and $2,975 respectively. These are illustrations only, not promised earnings
  • Extra pay opportunities may include detention, layover, extra stops, clean DOT inspection bonuses, safe-driving bonuses and referral bonuses

What you'll haul

Freight is 100% no-touch for the driver, a mix of drop-and-hook and live load/unload for reefer and dry van trailers, with some dedicated freight opportunities. On live loads you may wait on the dock, but you won't be loading or unloading freight yourself.

Routes and home time

Freight runs through the Midwest, Southeast, Northeast and East Coast, no West Coast and no New York City. The typical pattern is about three weeks on the road followed by five full days at home. This is not a home-weekly setup, so you should be ready for extended stretches away between hometime.

Equipment

  • 2023-2026 Freightliners
  • You're assigned your own truck rather than swapping rigs
  • Automatic transmissions
  • Governed at a 70 mph top speed
  • Kept clean and OTR-ready through regular maintenance

Driver support

  • Company fuel card
  • PrePass provided
  • Access to Love's truck stops, including their rewards and points programs
  • Showers and driver facilities
  • Possible food and parking discounts

Requirements

  • Valid Class A CDL
  • Proven OTR driving experience (not meant to be a first OTR job)
  • Clean driving record, MVR and background check
  • No DUI history, no SAP involvement, no failed drug tests
  • Able to manage legal DOT hours-of-service rules on your own
  • Solid communication skills with dispatch
  • Comfortable handling multi-week OTR stretches away from home

Pay structure note

This role is set up as 1099 independent contractor work, not W-2 employment, so you'll be responsible for your own taxes and related obligations. Make sure that arrangement works for you before applying.

The hiring carrier's name is shared with you once you apply through the DriverRoll app, where you can message them directly.
