About this job
This OTR dry van role is with an employee-owned national carrier hauling for major customers like P&G, Walmart, Home Depot, and FedEx Ground. Pay is based on your verified experience level, not a flat starting rate, so returning drivers get credit for miles they've already run.
Pay
- $0.50 to $0.68 per mile, set by your verified experience
- Up to $0.04 per mile quarterly bonus for zero preventable accidents and a clean CSA score
- $0.18 per mile untaxed per diem
- Half-cent raise every 50,000 miles, with no cap
- $1,000 per week pay protection during your first 90 days
- $200 bonus for a clean DOT inspection
Home time
Choose your own rotation: 7 days out with 2 home, 12 out with 3 home, or 21 out with 4 home.
What you'll haul
You'll run 100% dry van freight east of I-35, with no forced dispatch into NYC or New England. Loads run 600 to 900 miles, totaling 2,200 to 2,800 miles weekly. About 70% of the freight is drop and hook, and most of it is no-touch.
Requirements
- Valid CDL-A
- At least 6 months of driving experience in the last 2 years, or 1 year within the last 5
- Hazmat endorsement is a plus but not required
- Pass a road test and a backing test at orientation
Getting back in the seat
If you've been away from driving, your pay is still based on your prior experience. After passing the road and backing tests at orientation, you're placed solo in your own truck right away. If you want more seat time first, you'll run 2,500 miles with a mentor, still solo (no team setup), and move to your own truck once the mentor signs off. Drivers who need more practice backing can work on it in the yard, and no one is sent home for struggling with that test.
Benefits
The company offers 401(k) with matching, medical, dental, vision and life insurance, an employee stock ownership plan, paid orientation and training, paid time off, a passenger ride-along program, a pet rider program, and a referral program.
The hiring carrier's name is shared with you once you apply through the DriverRoll app, where you can message them directly.
