CDL-A Long Haul Truck Driver — $0.862 per Mile

Our company is hiring a long haul truck driver at its Tuscaloosa, AL facility. You will deliver the company's own products to customers across the country and into Canada, and the company says it aims to give long haul drivers a good work/life balance.

Pay

• $0.862 per mile

What you'll do

• Drive the truck to each destination and handle tight spots safely, following commercial driving rules

• Back into loading and unloading positions, guided by the loading crew when needed

• Stop at weigh stations before and after loading and along the route to document weight and meet each state's rules

• Keep your driver log on an electronic logging device

• Inspect the truck before, during and after trips and report its condition

• Collect bills of lading and signatures, then return the paperwork to the shipping office

• Load and unload by hand or help with it, chock the wheels before unloading, and secure freight with straps

• Check oil, water, fuel and tire air every day and tell your supervisor about any maintenance problems

• Occasionally: move freight with a hand truck, sweep out the truck body, swap empty and full trailers in the yard, or take other duties management assigns

Requirements

• Class A CDL, a safe driving record, and a DOT physical

• At least 25 years old, and able to pass a driving test

• A passport, or the ability to get one

• Negative DOT pre-employment drug test, plus employer accident and drug/alcohol testing history and a driving record showing medical certification

• At least two years of cross-country experience driving a diesel tractor-trailer

• 2-3 years of experience using an ELD

• An acceptable CSA score and PSP report

• Reading and math at an 8th grade level or higher on the TABE, or a suitable WorkKeys score

• Preferred: high school diploma or GED and material handling equipment experience
