CDL-A Local Truck Driver — Home Nightly

CHS in Hereford, TX is hiring a local truck driver to deliver fertilizer, chemical, seed and other ag products to customers in the area. You'll be home every night for supper, with hours that shift by season and plenty of overtime during the busy spring stretch.

What you'll haul

• Fertilizer, chemical, seed and other ag products to local customers

• Driving a semi tractor-trailer and/or straight truck

What you'll do

• Load and unload freight, hook and unhook trailers, and follow proper handling procedures

• Fill out delivery paperwork, daily load/unload reports and electronic logs accurately

• Give customers friendly, professional service at every stop

• Follow DOT rules, company policy and all compliance standards

• Do pre-trip and post-trip inspections, and flag any maintenance, safety or equipment problems right away

• Report any accidents, close calls or equipment trouble as required

• Take part in training to build your route knowledge, equipment skills and safety habits

• Handle other tasks your manager assigns, including cleaning and upkeep

Requirements

• Able to get and keep a valid Class A or Class B CDL (this is an entry-level to early-career driving role; experience is a plus but not required)

• Must meet the minimum age requirement

• Able to read, write and communicate in English

• Strong focus on safety, compliance and accurate paperwork

• Comfortable driving safely through changing weather and road conditions

• Good customer service and communication skills

• Open to a flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays as needed

• Able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, and climb in and out of truck cabs and trailers

• May need to pass pre-employment screening (drug test, background check, motor vehicle record, physical exam and/or FMCSA Clearinghouse check), depending on the role

Pay and benefits

Pay includes a base wage, and depending on the role, may also include bonus, incentive or commission earnings. Actual pay depends on factors like experience, education, training, certifications and local wage laws.
