About this job
Our company in Savannah, GA is hiring a local CDL-A driver who also works as a forklift operator. You'll pick up and deliver cargo near the distribution center and handle dock work like loading and unloading trailers.
What you'll do
- Pick up and deliver freight close to the service center
- Load and unload trailers, including building and breaking down loads within weight distribution rules
- Run a forklift when needed
- Handle check-in, tractor/trailer inspections, and tractor set-up
- Complete required paperwork and log sheets accurately
- Take on other assigned tasks
Schedule
Hours and days worked depend on the service center and can include days, nights, or weekends. You need to be available for the required shift at this location. Travel is minimal, under 25%.
Pay
This is an hourly role paid weekly at Teamster Union Scale, which runs higher than many other carriers. You'll also earn overtime after 8 hours in a day.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- At least 1 year of verifiable tractor/trailer experience (those with less experience may still qualify for training)
- Class A CDL with doubles/triples, tanker, and hazmat endorsements, and no automatic restriction
- At least 21 years old
- Solid, stable work history
- Clean driving record based on your MVR and past jobs
- Able to pass a DOT drug screen and meet DOT medical standards
