About this job
This role puts you behind the wheel of a tractor-trailer hauling freight that sometimes includes hazardous materials, with reefer, flatbed, or tanker equipment used depending on the load. You'll handle a mix of local runs and longer over-the-road trips.
Pay
- Starting at $0.90 per mile
What you'll haul
- General freight using tractor-trailers
- Refrigerated loads, and occasionally flatbed or tanker equipment
- Hazardous materials, handled under applicable regulations
What you'll do
- Follow assigned delivery and route schedules, using GPS to navigate and adjust as needed
- Load, secure, and unload cargo, checking paperwork along the way
- Keep an eye on vehicle and load condition, flagging any safety issues or delays
- Maintain accurate trip and delivery records in line with FMCSA and DOT rules
Requirements
- Class A CDL with a current HAZMAT endorsement
- Proven experience driving commercial trucks and making deliveries
- Comfortable operating a manual transmission tractor-trailer
- Experience with reefers, auto transport, flatbeds, or tankers is a plus
- Solid grasp of safe freight handling and loading practices
- Able to navigate using GPS for both local and OTR routes
