About this job
Our company is a family-owned flatbed and oversize carrier running about 20 trucks, mostly in the Midwest, with its yard and shop in Pingree Grove, IL. They're looking for CDL-A drivers nationwide for a 1099 owner-operator style role hauling flatbed and oversize freight.
Pay
- You're paid a percentage of gross revenue, not a flat rate: 32% from day one if you already have flatbed experience.
- If you're new to flatbed, you start at 30%, move to 31% after six months, and reach 32% after a year.
- The company says its trucks typically gross between $8,000 and $14,000 weekly, which at the 32% rate works out to roughly $2,560–$4,480 per week.
- You're paid every Friday, and clean inspections earn you a bonus: $300 for a Level 1, $200 for Level 2, $100 for Level 3.
- Deductions are limited to $46 a week for occupational accident coverage and any permit fees tied to oversize loads — there's no escrow, bonds, lease-purchase fees or truck payments.
Home time
Most drivers are home on weekends, though this can vary by where you live, and you take the truck home during your time off.
What you'll haul
You'll run newer Freightliner Cascadias (2021–2026 models) kept up in the company's own shop to minimize breakdowns. All securement gear — straps, chains and tarps — is supplied. Loads are mostly standard flatbed freight to start; if you're new to the flatbed world, you'll be trained on securement before moving into oversize work, and the office takes care of oversize permitting.
Requirements
- Class A CDL with at least one year of verifiable driving experience
- A clean driving record, with no DUIs, failed drug tests or serious violations in the past three years
- Ability to pass a DOT drug screening
- Comfortable working as a 1099 independent contractor
Benefits
- Paid training for drivers new to flatbed
- Help with relocation
- Safety equipment provided
