About this job
Perdue Transportation Incorporated, the logistics arm of Perdue Foods, needs a CDL-A driver in Forsyth, GA to keep livestock fed on schedule. You'll load and haul feed to assigned farms, coordinate with dispatch on daily priorities, and help flag equipment issues before they become bigger problems.
What you'll haul
- Bulk feed delivered to customer farms based on dispatcher scheduling
- You'll confirm correct load weight before leaving and correct delivery weight on arrival
- Using the truck's boom, you'll direct feed into holding bins without spilling it on the bin or ground, and report any spills or issues to the Mill Manager or dispatcher
Day-to-day duties
- Complete a DOT pre-trip inspection each day and report any defects to fleet mechanics
- Keep accurate records: fuel receipts, trip tickets, daily logs, time sheets, and feed pickup/no-hold documentation
- Climb onto the truck (up to 15 feet) to direct loading, and occasionally use a #5 sledgehammer to clear feed that's gotten stuck
- Handle other tasks as assigned
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Class A CDL
- At least 2 years of CDL-A driving experience; feed delivery background preferred
- Solid reading, writing, and math skills
- Comfortable climbing stairs, ladders, catwalks and tractor-trailer equipment, and working in all weather
- Able to lift and control items up to 10 pounds, bend, kneel, and work around noise levels above 110 dB
- Willing to work around chemicals and conditions typical of a live poultry operation, including chlorinated water, ammonia vapors, caustic detergents and lubricating oils
- Will wear required PPE, and sometimes disposable coveralls and shoe covers for biosecurity
