CDL-A Driver Trainee — $75,000–$88,000/yr After Training

Our company is looking for a Driver Trainee in Otsego, MN to train toward a Class A CDL and a long-term driving career. You'll ride along with an experienced Driver Trainer, learn the job, and help with deliveries while working toward your license.

Pay

• $23.50 per hour during training.

• Once trained, drivers earn $75,000 to $88,000 per year.

Schedule and routes

• Local and regional routes.

• Dispatch in the early evening with overnight deliveries.

What you'll do

• Ride with a Driver Trainer and learn how to safely operate a tractor-trailer, including hooking up trailers, backing, parking, and maneuvering on the road and at customer sites.

• Help with pre- and post-trip inspections and report any equipment issues to meet DOT standards.

• Use a handheld device to log deliveries, record product temperatures, and note any exceptions.

• Keep accurate driver logs in line with DOT rules.

• Help unload trailers and bring product into customer locations.

• Take on other tasks as needed.

Requirements

• Must be 21 or older.

• High school diploma or GED preferred.

• Will complete training and earn a Class A CDL within 6 months.

• Must meet our company's internal transfer and promotion eligibility rules.

• Able to load, unload, and deliver any product our company customers order.

• Able to stand, walk, sit, climb, bend, reach, squat, and stoop as the job requires.

• Able to read and understand labels, instructions, and bills of lading, and do basic math to check product quantities.

• Comfortable communicating with customers, managers, and coworkers.

• Able to safely operate a tractor-trailer, a two-wheeled dolly, a ramp, and onboard PeopleNet systems.

• Must read, write, and understand English well enough to follow safety and work instructions.

• Background check and drug screening required, as permitted by law.
