CDL-A City Pickup & Delivery Driver — $32.20/hr

Our company in Missoula, MT needs a CDL-A driver to move freight between the Service Center and local customers. You'll handle both driving and some freight handling, and build relationships with customers along your route.

Pay

• Starts at $32.20 per hour

What you'll do

• Drive tractor-trailer combinations, including doubles/triples or straight trucks, hooking and unhooking trailers and dollies as needed

• Run pre-trip and safety checks on your equipment before each shift

• Load, unload and secure freight using forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, straps and similar tools

• Fix or repackage freight that gets damaged

• Keep required paperwork and reports up to date, including hazmat compliance documents

• Collect payment for freight charges when needed and track that paperwork

• Stay in contact with dispatch on delays, arrivals and equipment issues

• Talk with customers about their pickup and delivery needs and look for chances to bring in new business, passing leads to the sales team

• Chain tires when conditions call for it

• Fill in on road driver or dock duties if the business needs it

Requirements

• Class A CDL with double/triple, hazmat and tank endorsements (hazmat endorsement must be obtained within 120 days of your offer; you can't drive without it); automatic transmission restriction is fine

• At least 1 year of driving experience in the last 3 years, or completion of the our company Driver Development Course

• Clean enough driving record to meet company hiring standards

• Must satisfy DOT qualification rules under FMCSA Part 391

• If working in AZ, CO, FL, ID, IN, KS, MT, ND, NV, OH, OK, OR, SD or UT, you may need to meet Long Combination Vehicle (LCV) standards for triples, Rocky Mountain Doubles or Turnpike Doubles

• Comfortable with basic math, reading and writing for job communication and documentation

• Able to lift and carry freight up to 100 pounds several times a week, and to sit, bend, twist, squat and climb in and out of the truck repeatedly

• Willing to complete required training and work either solo or as part of a team

Working conditions

• You'll be driving in all kinds of weather and road conditions

• Expect noise, vibration, dust and diesel exhaust on the job

• Some exposure to hazardous materials shipped under DOT rules

• Shift hours can shift based on operational needs
