About this job
Our company in Anderson, IN 46011 is looking for a CDL-A City Driver to move freight between service centers and customer locations. You'll run tractor-trailer combinations, including doubles and triples where applicable, and handle the full pickup-and-delivery process.
Pay
- Starting pay is $31.26 per hour
What you'll do
- Operate tractor-trailers, including doubles/triples and straight trucks
- Complete pre-trip and safety checks on your equipment
- Connect and disconnect trailers and converter dollies
- Load and unload freight with a forklift, pallet jack or hand truck
- Secure loads with pallets, straps and rope, and fix damaged freight as needed
- Keep required paperwork and reports up to date
- Follow hazmat rules and procedures
- Collect payment for freight charges when required
- Stay in contact with dispatch on delays, arrivals and equipment issues
- Talk with customers about pickup and delivery needs, and flag new business leads to the sales team
- Chain tires when conditions call for it
- Fill in on road driver or dock duties when the business needs it
Requirements
- Class A CDL with double/triple, hazmat and tank endorsements (automatic transmission restriction is fine); the hazmat endorsement must be earned within 120 days of your offer
- One year of driving experience in the last three years, or completion of the our company Driver Development Course
- Clean driving record that meets company hiring standards
- Must satisfy DOT qualification rules under FMCSA Part 391
- In AZ, CO, FL, ID, IN, KS, MT, ND, NV, OH, OK, OR, SD and UT, drivers running long combination vehicles (triples, Rocky Mountain Doubles, Turnpike Doubles) must meet the LCV qualification and certification standards
- Comfortable with basic math and clear written/verbal communication
- Able to lift and carry freight up to 100 pounds several times a week
- Able to sit for long stretches, and to bend, twist, squat and climb in and out of the truck
- Willing to follow directions, complete training, and work solo or as part of a team
Working conditions
- Driving in all kinds of weather and road conditions
- Exposure to noise, vibration, dust, diesel fumes and DOT-regulated hazardous materials
- Shift hours can shift based on operational needs
