CDL-A City Driver — Starting $36.97/hr

Our company in Elko, NV needs a CDL-A City Driver to move freight between the service center and customer locations and help support the sales side of the business. This includes running tractor-trailers (possibly doubles or triples) and handling freight along the way.

Pay

• Starting rate is $36.97 per hour (pay range $31.93 - $36.97 per hour)

• If you're assigned linehaul work, mileage pay runs $0.7342 - $0.8498 per mile, plus fixed amounts for certain linehaul tasks (calculated as 3/4, 1/2, or 1/4 of your hourly rate, not tied to how long the task takes)

• Actual pay depends on things like experience, tenure, location and work assignment

What you'll do

• Drive tractor-trailer combinations, including doubles/triples or straight trucks

• Run pre-trip and safety checks on your equipment each day

• Hook and unhook trailers and converter dollies

• Load and secure freight using forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, pallets, straps and rope

• Fix or recoup damaged freight when needed

• Fill out required paperwork and reports, and follow hazmat rules and procedures

• Collect payment for freight charges when required and keep records of it

• Stay in contact with dispatch about delays, arrivals and equipment issues

• Talk with customers about pickup and delivery needs, and look for chances to bring in more business or pass leads to sales

• Chain tires when conditions call for it

• Fill in on road driver or dock duties when the business needs it

• Follow all relevant laws, regulations and company policy

Requirements

• Class A CDL with double/triple, hazmat and tanker endorsements (automatic transmission restriction is okay); if you don't have the hazmat endorsement yet, you'll need to get it within 120 days of accepting the offer, since you can't drive without it

• One year of driving experience in the last three years, or completion of the our company Driver Development Course

• A driving record that meets company hiring standards

• Must satisfy DOT qualification rules under FMCSA section 391

• If operating long combination vehicles (triples, Rocky Mountain Doubles, Turnpike Doubles) in AZ, CO, FL, ID, IN, KS, MT, ND, NV, OH, OK, OR, SD or UT, you must meet the LCV certification standards

• Basic math skills (calculator allowed) and solid reading/writing/communication abilities

• Able to lift and carry freight up to 100 pounds several times a week, and comfortable with sitting, bending, twisting, squatting and climbing in and out of the truck

• Able to follow directions, complete training, and work both independently and as part of a team

Working conditions

• Driving in all kinds of weather and road conditions

• Exposure to noise, vibration, dust, diesel fumes and DOT-regulated hazardous materials

• Schedule and hours can shift based on business needs
