CDL-A City Driver — $36.18/hr Starting

Our company needs a CDL-A city driver in Windsor, WI to move freight between service centers and customers, handling both the delivery work and some customer-facing selling duties.

Pay

• Starts at $36.18 per hour

What you'll do

• Drive tractor-trailer combinations, including doubles or triples where applicable, and straight trucks

• Complete pre-trip and safety checks on your equipment

• Connect and disconnect trailers and converter dollies

• Load and secure freight using forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, pallets, straps and rope

• Fix or recoup damaged freight as needed

• Fill out required paperwork and reports, including hazmat compliance documents

• Collect payment for freight charges when required and keep records of it

• Stay in contact with dispatch about delays, arrivals and equipment issues

• Talk with customers about pickup and delivery needs, provide good service, and pass along sales leads or ask about additional business

• Chain tires when conditions call for it

• Step into road driver or dock roles when the business needs it

• Follow all applicable laws, regulations and company policies

Requirements

• Class A CDL with double/triple, hazmat and tank endorsements (automatic transmission restriction is fine); the hazmat endorsement must be obtained within 120 days of your offer

• One year of driving experience in the last three years, or completion of the our company Driver Development Course

• Acceptable motor vehicle record per hiring standards

• Must meet DOT qualification requirements under FMC Section 391

• If driving long combination vehicles (triples, Rocky Mountain Doubles, Turnpike Doubles) in AZ, CO, FL, ID, IN, KS, MT, ND, NV, OH, OK, OR, SD or UT, you must meet the LCV qualification and certification standards for those states

• Comfortable with basic math (calculator okay) and clear written/verbal communication

• Able to lift and carry freight up to 100 pounds several times a week

• Able to sit for long stretches and to bend, twist, squat and climb in and out of the truck

• Able to follow directions, complete training, and work solo or as part of a team

Working conditions

• Driving in all weather and road types during your shift

• Exposure to noise, vibration, dust, diesel fumes and DOT-regulated hazardous materials

• Shift hours can vary based on operational needs
