CDL-A City Driver — $32.20/hr

Our company in Bloomingdale, GA is looking for a CDL-A City Driver to move freight between service centers and customer locations and help support the sales process.

Pay

• Starting rate is $32.20 per hour

What you'll do

• Drive tractor-trailer combinations, including doubles and triples where applicable, as well as straight trucks

• Complete pre-trip and safety checks on your equipment each day

• Hook and unhook trailers and converter dollies

• Load and unload freight with forklifts, pallet jacks and hand trucks

• Secure loads using pallets, straps and rope, and recoup or repair damaged freight as needed

• Handle required paperwork, including collecting cash or checks for freight charges when applicable

• Stay in contact with dispatch about delays, arrivals and equipment issues

• Talk with customers about pickup and delivery needs, provide good service, and pass along potential new business leads to the sales team

• Chain tires when conditions call for it

• Fill in on road driving or dock work when the business needs it

• Follow all applicable laws, regulations and company procedures

Requirements

• Class A CDL with double/triple, hazardous materials and tank endorsements (the hazmat endorsement must be obtained within 120 days of your offer acceptance; you can't drive without it); automatic transmission restriction is acceptable

• At least 1 year of driving experience in the last 3 years, or completion of the our company Driver Development Course

• Acceptable motor vehicle record per hiring standards

• Must meet DOT qualification requirements under FMCSA regulation 391

• If assigned to AZ, CO, FL, ID, IN, KS, MT, ND, NV, OH, OK, OR, SD or UT, must meet Long Combination Vehicle (LCV) qualification standards for triples, Rocky Mountain Doubles or Turnpike Doubles

• Basic math skills (calculator use is fine) and solid written and verbal communication

• Able to lift and carry freight up to 100 pounds multiple times a week

• Able to sit for long stretches, bend, twist, squat and climb in and out of the truck

• Able to follow directions, complete required training, and work both independently and as part of a team

Working conditions

• Driving in all weather and road conditions throughout your shift

• Exposure to noise, vibration, dust and diesel fumes

• Exposure to hazardous materials shipped under DOT rules

• Hours can change based on operational needs
