About this job
Our company in Ottawa, ON is looking for an AZ driver to handle both long-haul and local freight runs. You'll be responsible for safe driving, freight handling and basic vehicle upkeep along your routes.
What you'll do
- Drive commercial trucks on local and long-haul routes, following all traffic and safety rules
- Load, unload and secure cargo, using a forklift or other equipment when needed
- Complete pre-trip and post-trip vehicle checks to catch any maintenance issues
- Fill out delivery paperwork such as manifests, shipment logs and inspection records
- Stay in touch with dispatch, warehouse staff and customers to keep deliveries on schedule and sort out any problems
- Handle minor repairs or troubleshooting on the truck to avoid delays
- Keep the cab and trailer clean and in order
Requirements
- Valid AZ license with a clean driving record
- At least 3 years of commercial driving experience
- Comfortable operating a forklift and other heavy equipment
- Solid understanding of how to handle and secure freight
- Able to do basic truck and trailer repairs or troubleshooting
- Strong communication skills for working with dispatch and clients
- Physically able to load, unload and inspect vehicles
- Aware of safety rules for equipment use and transportation regulations
