About this job
Our company, a family-owned carrier running since 1989 out of Walkerton, ON (with a yard in Okotoks, AB), needs AZ-licensed team drivers for cross-border runs between Canada and the US. This is a company-driver position hauling reefer and dry van freight on 53' trailers.
Schedule
Work comes from an open board rather than set routes, so there's no dedicated run. Trips are long haul and can stretch up to two weeks or more. Expect around 70 hours a week, and occasional roadside resets when hours-of-service limits require it.
What you'll haul
You'll move refrigerated and dry freight to and from points all over Canada and the US, using 53' reefers and dry vans.
What you'll do
- Load and unload freight across Canadian and US destinations
- Complete pre-trip inspections every day
- Handle driving in all kinds of weather conditions
- Stay on top of HOS regulations and take resets when needed
Requirements
- Valid AZ license
- Strong grasp of hours-of-service rules
- A real feel for operating equipment, not just steering
- A good attitude - this isn't the place for negativity
- Practical judgment and genuine interest in the trucking industry
- Comfortable with the demands of long-haul life
- No experience required, though it's a strong plus
- A current personal and CVOR abstract plus a clean criminal record check are required once you apply
- Interview process includes a conversation, document review, and a test drive
Pay and benefits
- Mileage-based pay, calculated hub to hub
- Dental and vision coverage included
- Dedicated Freightliner Cascadia equipment
- Newer trucks maintained through an in-house shop
- Family-run company culture
