About this job
Our company in Sutton West, ON is looking for an experienced heavy haul driver to move oversize and superload freight on manual transmission equipment. You will run flatbed, RGN, Float, Landoll, Jeep, Booster and steerable trailers, handling complex permits and route planning for large machinery and equipment.
Pay
- $35.00-$60.00 per hour
What you'll haul
- Oversize and heavy haul freight, including superloads
- Equipment and machinery moved on flatbed, RGN, Float, Landoll, Jeep, Booster and steerable trailers
- Local, regional and long-distance routes, with about 75% travel preferred, including possible cross-border runs into the USA (a passport is needed)
What you'll do
- Operate tractor-trailers set up for oversize and heavy loads, using an 18-speed manual transmission
- Secure cargo properly on flatbed and other specialized trailers to stop shifting or damage in transit
- Load and unload freight yourself or with help from forklifts or cranes when needed
- Work out detailed routes that account for permits, road restrictions and safety requirements for oversized cargo
- Complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections and report any problems right away
- Keep accurate records of hours, loads, inspections and delivery paperwork to stay DOT-compliant
- Stay in contact with dispatch, customers and law enforcement while planning routes or handling emergencies
Requirements
- At least 3 years of oversize/heavy haul experience
- At least 2 years of superload experience
- AZ licence with manual transmission experience
- Valid CDL in good standing, clean criminal record
- Clean driving record, able to meet DOT safety and compliance standards
- Able to pass DOT drug testing
- Comfortable with physical work, including manual loading/unloading or using equipment like forklifts
- English required
- Willing to cross into the USA with loads as needed (passport required)
- Open to day, night or overnight shifts
