About this job
Our company is looking for an experienced AZ driver to haul explosives and general freight out of Sudbury, Ontario, with routes across Canada and optional trips into the United States. This long-haul role involves overnight travel and hands-on work loading and securing specialized loads, mostly in dry van trailers. There's also a path to move into a supervisory role, with training provided.
Pay
- $120,000.00-$150,000.00 per year, full-time
What you'll haul
- Explosives and general freight, primarily in dry van trailers
- Loads travel throughout Canada, with optional U.S. runs
- You'll help load, unload and secure equipment and materials
Schedule
- Long-haul work requiring overnight stays away from home as needed
- Experienced team drivers are also welcome to apply
Requirements
- Valid Class 1 (AZ) license with air brake endorsement, in good standing
- At least 3 years of verifiable AZ driving experience
- Proven experience driving off-road and in winter conditions
- Available for long-haul trips with overnight stays
- Must pass a criminal background check and a pre-employment drug and alcohol test
- Strong attention to detail, customer service skills, and the ability to manage your time and work independently
- Able to lift or push/pull 50-75 lbs., crank trailer dollies (about 50 lbs. of force), use a manual pallet jack for heavier loads, and install, remove and maintain tire chains in bad weather
- Completion of accurate pre-trip, post-trip and hazard inspections, along with required paperwork, is part of the job
Nice to have
- Experience hauling in the mining industry or handling explosives
- Tank hauling or flat deck experience
- Bilingual in English and French
- Willing and able to get a passport and a FAST Card for U.S. travel
