About this job
Our company, a heavy civil construction company based in Stouffville, Ontario, needs AZ or DZ licensed operators to run snow plow trucks on local roads in the Kawartha Lakes area during winter storm events.
What you'll do
- Run a heavy truck fitted with a plow wing and spreader to clear snow and apply sand or salt on assigned routes, following contract specs and MTO standards
- Fill out required paperwork accurately
- Keep your equipment clean and handle routine upkeep and small repairs
- Learn your route map and the salt/sand application requirements
- Answer call-ins during storms and take on other tasks as needed
Pay
- $40.00 CAD per hour
- $4500.00 CAD standby rate
- Extra overtime pay available during busy snowfall stretches
Schedule
You'll need to be ready for call-ins within one hour and work whatever shifts winter weather demands, including evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.
Requirements
- Valid AZ or DZ license, clean driver's abstract and CVOR-D
- At least 2 years in winter maintenance work
- Comfortable working in harsh winter conditions
- Solid written and verbal communication
- Mechanical skills for basic maintenance and repairs are a plus
