About this job
Our company is hiring a yard switcher in Mississauga, Ontario. You will shuttle trailers between dock doors and around the yard, and you may also help load, unload and sort packages by hand. This is an interview position.
What you'll do
- Position trailers at the dock doors and move them through the yard
- Hand-load, unload and sort packages when needed, using hand-to-surface methods
- Scan packages, read labels and charts, and send each parcel to the right conveyor
- Lift, carry, push and pull packages for about 2 to 4 hours per shift
Schedule
- Monday: 12:00am to 6:30am, with a 30-minute break
- Tuesday to Friday: 2:00am to 8:30am, with a 30-minute break
- Shifts can change based on operational needs
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- A valid driver's license (for example Class 5, G or 1/AZ) and a good driving record, with no more than two violations or accidents in the last 24 months
- Six months as a package handler, or switching/CDL operator experience, is preferred
- In Quebec you must speak both French and English
- Be able to pass mandatory tests and training and work in a Windows PC environment
