About this job
Our company needs a yard jockey to shuttle trailers around the yard in Plainfield, CT. You'll be home every day with no over-the-road driving involved, running a yard goat instead of a tractor-trailer.
What you'll do
- Spot and shuttle trailers between dock doors using a yard goat
- Handle drop and hook moves
- Run yard audits
- Do pre-trip and post-trip inspections
- Log trailer moves in the Yard Management System
- Keep things safe in a busy, fast-moving yard
Requirements
- At least 12 months of verifiable yard jockey experience within the last 3 years
- Able to back 48'-53' trailers, including into tight spots and dock doors
- Strong focus on safety and detail
- Must clear a background check, drug screen, and Clearinghouse check
- CDL A preferred, not required
- English required
Pay
Starts at $30.00 per hour, paid weekly, with overtime after 40 hours.
Home time
Home daily. No OTR, and no freight handling thanks to drop and hook moves.
