About this job
Our company Group is looking for an experienced Winch Truck Driver to haul equipment and materials for clients across the oil and gas, mining, construction and municipal sectors in Western Canada. You'll run a tractor and trailer between our company's head office, branch locations and client sites, operating a winch truck and keeping everything compliant with federal safety rules.
What you'll do
- Move our company equipment safely between the head office, branches and client job sites throughout Western Canada
- Load and secure a range of commodities with a winch truck so nothing shifts in transit
- Stay in touch with dispatch, customers and others on permits, routes, fuel stops and job instructions
- Complete pre-trip, inter-trip and post-trip inspections, handle minor repairs, tire chain-ups and routine upkeep
- Keep your rig clean inside and out, and stay current on all required paperwork and safety training
- Follow our company's policies, occupational health and safety rules, and wear the required protective gear
What the job is like
- You'll spend roughly 60-70% of your time in the cab, with the rest outdoors in all kinds of weather, including extreme temperatures, ice, rain, snow and blowing dust
- Expect exposure to moving equipment, fuel and chemical odours, noise that can top 80 DBA, dusty conditions and other oilfield hazards
Requirements
- Valid CDL with the right endorsements
- At least 2 years of winch truck experience
- At least 2 years working as an oilfield truck driver
- High school diploma
- Strong English communication skills, both spoken and written, for instructions, signage, safety data sheets and paperwork
- Basic math skills and good judgment for securing loads and adjusting to changing conditions
- Comfortable managing shifting schedules, tight deadlines and multiple tasks
- Professional, respectful manner with customers and coworkers
- Able to work solo or as part of a team
- This is a safety-sensitive role: pre-employment drug, alcohol, back and hearing tests are required
Benefits
- Health, dental and vision coverage fully paid by the employer
- RRSP matching
- Competitive pay with flexible vacation time
- Retention bonus
- Family-run company culture
