Transit Driver Trainee — No CDL Required, $19.00/hr After CDL + $1,000 Bonus

Our company in Carbondale, IL is building its next group of transit drivers and will train you to get your CDL if you don't already have one. Both full-time and part-time schedules are available, and you'll help residents get to work, school, medical appointments and other everyday destinations.

Pay and bonus

• $18.00 per hour while you train

• $19.00 per hour once you earn your CDL

• $1,000 bonus, subject to program terms

Getting your CDL

You don't need a CDL to apply. If you're hired without one, JAX provides paid instruction so you can earn your Class B CDL with passenger endorsement during onboarding. You'll need to be willing to complete that training and pass the licensing requirements. Experienced CDL holders are also welcome to apply.

What the job involves

• Operating our company vehicles safely

• Driving passengers to their destinations in a reliable, courteous way

• Helping riders board, exit, and manage accessibility needs

• Doing pre-trip and post-trip inspections on your vehicle

• Sticking to assigned routes, schedules, safety rules, and company policy

• Staying in contact with dispatch and teammates

• Making every passenger's experience safe and welcoming

What you'll need

• High school diploma or GED

• A valid driver's license and a clean driving history

• Reliable attendance and punctuality

• Good customer service skills and a professional manner

• Patience when helping riders

• Openness to coaching and following directions

• Ability to pass required background and drug testing

• Ability to get and keep the licenses/qualifications the job calls for

A CDL is preferred but not required to apply.
