About this job
This is a full-time regional Class A driving job based in Detroit, MI, hauling containers between the Detroit area and Chicago-area rail yards. You'll be home weekly and get to pick your own start time.
Pay
- Average annual earnings range from $86,000 to $95,000
- Mileage rate of $0.64-$0.69 per mile
- Detention pay: $20-25 per hour
- Drop and hook pay: $35 per stop
- Live load/unload pay: $65 per stop
- Layover pay: $20 per hour
- Refused delivery pay: $40
- Chassis flip pay: $20 per hour
- Yard pay: $20 per hour
- New hire training pay: $250 per day
- $10,000 sign-on bonus
Home time
- Home weekly
What you'll haul
- Container freight moving between the Detroit market and Chicago rail yards, covering IL, MI, and IN
- Routes include stops at 13 rail ramps (6 major ramps) in the Chicagoland area
- About 70% of the work is drop and hook, 30% is live load/unload
- Loads are preplanned in advance
- You'll drive mid-roof conventional sleeper tractors (about 1 year 10 months old on average) pulling 53-foot box trailers
- Freight is no-touch
Requirements
- Valid Class A CDL
- At least 3 months of trucking experience
