About this job
Our company is looking for a tank wagon driver to deliver fuel oil, kerosene and similar products from company storage sites to homes and businesses near Alpena, MI. You'll handle hazardous materials under state and federal rules while keeping customers and equipment safe.
What you'll haul
- Fuel oil, kerosene and similar petroleum products
- Deliveries go to both residential and commercial customers
Requirements
- Valid Class B CDL with air brakes, tanker and hazardous materials endorsements
- At least six months operating similar equipment, plus a driver training certificate from an accredited program
- High school diploma or GED
- State Class C hazmat certification, in line with EPA and MDEQ rules
- Willingness to pass a company-paid annual physical, random drug and alcohol testing, and yearly driving record checks
- Comfortable working on uneven ground and climbing ladders
- Solid math skills and clear communication with customers and store managers
What you'll do
- Load the truck correctly for each dispatch and plan safe, efficient routes
- Deliver product, log volumes delivered, and collect signatures when needed
- Run daily pre- and post-trip inspections and handle minor upkeep
- Clean lines and tank components to avoid mixing products
- Keep accurate manifests, trip logs and sales records, turned in daily
- Report spills right away to your supervisor and the hazmat emergency line
- Build good relationships with customers and flag any sales opportunities to your manager
