Part-Time CDL-B Hiker/Vehicle Transporter — Flexible 0-25 Hrs/Week

Penske Truck Leasing in Oakwood Village, OH is looking for a part-time Hiker to move vehicles between Penske locations and customer sites. You'll mostly drive box trucks up to 26 feet, and if you hold a CDL Class A, you may also move tractors and trailers. This is casual, on-call work, ranging from 0 to 25 hours a week depending on business needs, and could also include helping the service department deliver parts and equipment.

What you'll do

• Drive trucks safely to Penske or customer locations following proper safety procedures

• Inspect vehicles for mechanical, safety and emergency equipment issues and report any problems to the location manager

• Collect signatures, receipts or payment when a delivery requires it

• Report any accidents, traffic violations, damage or vehicle defects

• Take on other tasks assigned by your supervisor

Requirements

• At least 2 years of driving experience

• A clean motor vehicle record for the past 2 years

• A valid Class B CDL (Class A is a plus); you must live in the U.S. and be licensed in your state of residence

• Comfortable reading and following written instructions

• Able to work independently with good customer service and organizational skills

• English language proficiency, as required under 49 C.F.R. 391.11(b)(2)

• Reliable attendance

• Willingness to maintain a current DOT driver qualification file, including an annual MVR check, a passed DOT physical, and safety history checks from past employers; CDL holders must pass a DOT drug screen within 30 days of starting and are subject to FMCSA Clearinghouse checks

• Willingness to travel as needed, work the assigned schedule and location, complete a Penske application, and pass a background check and drug screening

This role falls under DOT safety regulations, so you'll need to stay alert and work safely at all times, looking out for your own wellbeing and that of others on the road.

Physical demands

You'll need good vision and hearing, including close, distance and peripheral vision along with depth perception. The job involves standing, walking, sitting and moving often, along with frequent reaching and hand use. You should be able to lift up to 50 lbs/23 kg regularly and up to 100 lbs/45 kg occasionally, and be able to get in and out of the vehicle and its rear cargo area safely and often.
