About this job
Our company is looking for a CDL-A driver to run over-the-road freight for a busy logistics operation based near Cleveland, OH. You'll handle a mix of trailer types and cargo while staying on top of safety and compliance on every trip.
Pay
- $40.00 - $60.00 per hour
What you'll haul
- Tractor-trailers, including refrigerated, flatbed, tanker and other specialized equipment
- Hazardous materials and other dangerous goods requiring careful handling
- Vehicle transport and general freight on regional or national lanes
What the job involves
- Running OTR routes planned with GPS to keep schedules on track and save fuel
- Loading and unloading freight by hand, making sure everything is secured properly
- Completing pre-trip and post-trip checks on your truck and trailer to catch issues early
- Logging your hours, deliveries and inspections to stay within FMCSA rules
- Staying in touch with dispatch about routing, delivery status or any safety issues
Requirements
- Valid CDL-A with a clean driving record
- Solid background in commercial driving, including route and delivery work
- Hazmat knowledge and safe handling practices for dangerous goods
- Comfortable driving manual transmission trucks and handling freight by hand
- Able to use GPS systems for route planning
- Understanding of DOT rules on hours of service, load securement and vehicle upkeep
- Physically able to manage manual freight work and extended time behind the wheel
