About this job

Our company is looking for a reliable OTR box truck driver to run a 26-foot box truck on OTR and regional routes. The company is young and growing, and wants drivers who are in it for the long haul, not just a few weeks.

Pay

Starting pay is $900.00 per week, based on a minimum of 2,700 total miles (not just loaded miles). On top of base pay, you can earn more through mileage and productivity bonuses, quarterly and annual safety bonuses, anniversary bonuses, and referral bonuses, plus other incentives as the company expands. Actual earnings will vary with mileage, productivity, freight availability and bonus eligibility.

Home time

This is an OTR role, not a home-daily job. Home time is worked out individually with each driver rather than following one fixed pattern. Depending on your preference, that could look like 10 to 14 days out with scheduled time home, three weeks out and one week home, longer stretches for drivers chasing more miles and pay, or regional runs when they're available. The company says it will work with drivers to plan time off for family and personal needs.

What you'll haul

You'll drive a 26-foot box truck on OTR and regional lanes, handling pre- and post-trip inspections, securing freight with E-track, straps and load bars, checking loads before leaving pickup sites, and keeping BOLs, PODs and other paperwork in order. You'll also stay in regular contact with dispatch, brokers, shippers and receivers, keep the truck clean and well maintained, follow DOT/FMCSA rules, and report any accidents, damage or mechanical issues right away.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of box truck experience and 3 years of OTR experience
  • Valid driver's license with a clean enough record to be acceptable
  • Current DOT Medical Card
  • Familiarity with Hours-of-Service rules and ELD use
  • Experience securing freight, plus liftgate and pallet-jack use
  • Comfort handling BOLs and PODs
  • Good communication and customer-service skills
  • Able to work independently while on the road
  • CDL-A or CDL-B welcome but not required, since the truck is non-CDL equipment
  • A plus if you hold TWIC, HazMat, OSHA-10, defensive driving, forklift, or cargo securement credentials (TWIC is preferred)
  • Must be able to pass a drug test and a background check
  • Available for day, night and overnight shifts

Safety

T&L says safety comes first: no driver will be pushed to break Hours-of-Service rules or run unsafe equipment to hit a delivery deadline. No load is worth more than driver or public safety.

Employment structure

You'll start as an independent contractor under the applicable terms for that arrangement. As the company grows, the goal is to move qualifying drivers over to W-2 employment with expanded benefits.

Benefits

  • Company truck
  • Flexible schedule
  • Fuel card
  • Parental leave
  • Referral program

The hiring carrier's name is shared with you once you apply through the DriverRoll app, where you can message them directly.
