About this job

This fleet is looking for newly licensed Class A drivers near Bremerton, Port Orchard and the Kitsap Peninsula to run dry van freight across the western states. You'll be paired with a mentor for several weeks before running solo, and you'll get paid the whole time.

Pay

  • Training period pays $900 a week, flat
  • Once solo, you start at $0.50 per mile
  • Typical solo earnings on this fleet run $1,400 to $1,500 a week
  • Your first three months solo come with a $1,000 weekly pay guarantee
  • You can also earn a monthly performance bonus plus $15 per stop
  • Orientation pays $300 and takes two days or less; a one-way bus ticket there gets reimbursed with your receipt

Training

Expect 3 to 5 weeks (roughly 200-250 hours) riding with an experienced driver on the same routes you'll run solo. You won't be released to drive alone until your mentor approves you.

Home time and routes

You'll cover about 2,000 miles a week of dry van freight through the western states, the Rockies and Texas, staying west of the Mississippi. Some weekends involve work, and you'll be home every other week.

Equipment

Trucks are late-model, averaging about a year and a half old, equipped with automatic or 10-speed transmissions.

Pets and riders

After training, you can bring one approved dog weighing up to 40 pounds. Solo drivers may apply to bring an adult rider along.

Benefits

Starting at 30 days, you get a choice of medical, prescription, dental and vision coverage, a 401(k), employee stock purchase plan, life and disability insurance, and a free online degree program available to you and one dependent.

Requirements

You need a valid Class A CDL and must be at least 21. You should have finished a driving school program of at least 120 hours, with under 6 months of driving experience. Your record should show no more than 2 moving violations in the past 2 years and no DUI or DWI within the last 10 years. A DOT physical and a hair and urine drug test are required.

The hiring carrier's name is shared with you once you apply through the DriverRoll app, where you can message them directly.
