Local Intermodal Truck Driver — Daily Home Time, Avg. $79,000/yr

J.B. Hunt is hiring local intermodal drivers in Chesapeake, VA. You'll run railyard freight on an activity-based pay plan, with daily home time and mostly no-touch loads.

Pay

• Base rate of $0.52 to $0.59 per mile

• Detention pay of $23 to $28 per hour

• $30 per stop for drop and hook work

• $60 per stop for live load/unload, $45 per stop when you handle the load yourself

• $40 per load for hazmat or refrigerated freight

• $25 per load for crosstown moves, driver assist events, or empty moves

• $23 per hour for empty searches, mechanical breakdowns, rail delays, waiting on a truck, safety training, mandatory meetings, overweight rework, and yard work

• $40 per stop if a delivery is refused, and $20 per event if a truck order goes unused

• $200 per day for new hire training and for recognized holidays

• Based on driver earnings over the past six to twelve months, annualized pay has averaged $79,000; actual pay depends on things like completed activities, training, endorsements, tenure, equipment type, and days worked per week

• Safety-related bonuses and incentives may also apply depending on performance

You'll be home every day.

What you'll haul

Most freight is no-touch. You'll work with company-owned equipment, have access to railyard gates, and get support from onsite maintenance and management.
