About this job
Our company is looking for a Class 1 driver in Kelowna, BC to handle local food deliveries. You'll be home at the end of every shift and part of a close-knit team.
What you'll haul
- Deliver food products to customer locations across urban, short inter-urban and rural routes using straight trucks or trailers
- Manually sort and unload freight, hand-wheeling it in with ramps and sometimes stairs, roughly 600 to 1000 cases per shift
- Confirm deliveries at each stop and keep customer invoices in order
What you'll do day to day
- Build strong relationships with customers through reliable, friendly service
- Run pre-trip and post-trip inspections on your truck
- Keep accurate logs for routes, temperatures, counts and any incidents
- Follow all health and safety procedures
Requirements
- Valid Class 1 license with a clean commercial driving record
- Physically able to lift, pull, stack and carry loads up to 80 lbs repeatedly
- Fluent English with solid communication and customer service skills
- Professional driving experience preferred
- Comfortable working in all kinds of weather, temperatures and road conditions
- Able to work both independently and as part of a team
- Self-motivated with a positive attitude, good attention to detail and punctual
- Eligible for bonding and TDG (transportation of dangerous goods) certification
- Good mechanical know-how, high integrity and the ability to stay composed under pressure with minimal supervision
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Available to work statutory holidays and weekends
