About this job
Our company, a distributor of specialty building materials, is hiring a full-time CDL Boom Operator in the Independence/Brooklyn Heights, Ohio area. You will drive a boom truck over 26,000 GVWR to deliver drywall, insulation and other materials to job sites within 100 miles of the branch. You will also run the articulated crane and handle materials at each stop.
Pay
- From $26.00 per hour, with overtime eligibility.
- Monthly performance bonus worth up to an extra $2.25 per hour.
- $1,000 sign-on bonus.
Schedule
- Monday to Friday, 6:30 AM to 4:00 PM, in person at the branch at 4626 Spring Rd., Brooklyn Heights, OH 44131.
What you'll do
- Inspect the truck and crane before each trip and check that loads are correct and secured.
- Deliver within 100 miles of the branch, planning an efficient route and checking sites for hazards.
- Use the boom crane to lift and place materials, and run a forklift or Teledyne for loading and unloading.
- Act as site lead and direct the logistics crew on the ground.
- Collect customer signatures and pass paperwork to dispatch.
- Keep the vehicle clean, keep the inspection log current and report maintenance issues.
- Get the next load ready when you return, and help customers load in the yard when needed.
Requirements
- A CDL (Class B listed as the preferred class) and 2 years of boom truck experience.
- Overhead crane certification, or a willingness to get certified; forklift certification.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Clean driving record that meets insurance guidelines, plus a DOT medical card or ability to get one.
- Able to handle materials up to 100 lbs on your own and work outdoors in all weather.
- Must pass pre-employment screening, including a background check and drug test.
