About this job
Our company is looking for a Class A CDL driver to run solo local routes out of Chicago, IL, getting you home every day. You'll haul touch freight (clothes) using day cab tractors and 28' pup trailers.
Pay
- Weekly paychecks totaling $1,800 or more
- Mileage pay of $0.65 per mile, averaging 1,900 miles weekly
- Stop pay of $25.00 per stop, averaging 10 stops weekly
- $2,500 sign-on bonus, split with half paid at 30 days and half at 90 days
- Paid training included
Schedule
- Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturdays
- Start time around 6:00 AM
- Local routes with home time every day
Equipment and freight
- Day cab tractors paired with 28' pup trailers
- Trucks are 36 months old or newer
- Touch freight: clothing
- 24/7 roadside assistance and access to over 800 maintenance locations nationwide
Requirements
- At least 21 years old
- Valid Class A CDL with any required endorsements
- Verifiable tractor-trailer experience: 9 months in the last 3 years, or 2 years in the last 5 years, or 5 years in the last 10 years
- Must pass a drug test, background check, motor vehicle record check, and DOT physical
- Must pass a road test with our company
- Able to follow instructions and apply relevant laws, rules and procedures
- Some positions may require extra screening such as employment/education verification or customer-specific badging
Responsibilities
- Following all applicable safety laws, rules and regulations
- Spotting and addressing safety hazards
- Keeping accurate logs and records
- Helping load or unload freight when the customer requires it
- Other duties as assigned
