About this job
Our company in Chicago, IL is looking for an experienced CDL-A driver to run local routes and be home every day. You'll haul refrigerated freight and other cargo, keeping deliveries on time and handling goods safely.

What you'll haul
- Tractor-trailers, mainly refrigerated trailers; flatbed, tanker or other specialized loads may also come up
- Auto parts and other sensitive freight that needs careful handling, including hazardous materials when required
What you'll do
- Drive safely following DOT and FMCSA rules
- Use GPS to plan efficient routes, mostly local with occasional OTR trips
- Load and unload freight by hand or with equipment, securing it properly
- Run pre-trip and post-trip checks on your truck, trailer and load
- Keep accurate logs, shipping paperwork and compliance records
- Stay in touch with dispatch and customers to keep deliveries on schedule
Requirements
- Valid CDL Class A license with a clean driving record and recent commercial driving experience
- Experience with refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers or hazmat transport preferred
- Comfortable with GPS routing and trip planning
- Able to drive manual transmission and handle cargo by hand
- Solid grasp of DOT and FMCSA safety and compliance rules
- Local delivery experience; OTR experience is a plus
- Good communication skills for coordinating with dispatch and customers
