A staffing firm, HireArt, is hiring experienced Class A drivers for a client's dedicated local pickup and delivery work around Farmingdale, NY. You will run tractor-trailer routes on city streets and keep deliveries safe, accurate and on time.
Pay
- $35 an hour.
Schedule
- Full-time, ongoing, onsite position.
- Two overnight shifts to choose from, Tuesday to Saturday: 1AM–9:30AM or 2AM–10:30AM.
What you'll haul
- Local pickup and delivery with 53-foot dry vans, high-cube trailers and flatbeds.
- On flatbed loads, you will tarp, strap and chain freight to federal cargo securement rules.
Day to day
- Inspect and fuel your truck and run safety checks before and during your shift.
- Change routes when traffic, weather or operations call for it.
- Keep delivery paperwork, logs and cargo records accurate.
- Tell supervisors right away about vehicle problems, delays or safety concerns.
- Pitch in with loading and material handling, and keep the truck and terminal tidy.
- Work with other drivers and the operations team to keep deliveries efficient.
Requirements
- Valid Class A CDL and a current DOT medical card.
- At least 3 years running tractor-trailers (53-foot dry vans, high-cube trailers or flatbeds).
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- No major at-fault accidents or speeding tickets in commercial vehicles.
- Comfortable driving in cities and in all kinds of weather.
- Good grasp of DOT rules, shipping, receiving and inventory control, plus safe loading and cargo securement.
- Solid math, writing, communication and customer service skills, intermediate computer skills and careful recordkeeping.
- Knowledge of LEAN practices (5S and 7S), strong time management and the ability to handle high volume.
- Able to use light power tools when needed.
- Handheld RF scanner experience is a plus.
- You must be eligible to work in the US; visa sponsorship and corp-to-corp arrangements are not available.
