About this job
Our company in Springfield, MA is looking for someone new to trucking to join its driver training program. You'll learn the ropes of hauling food and related products on local and regional routes while riding along with an experienced trainer.
Pay
- $300 per day guaranteed while you're in the 11-16 week training program
Schedule
- Monday through Friday
- Dispatch between 3am and 5am
- You're home every day
What you'll haul
- Food and food-related products delivered to restaurants, healthcare facilities, schools and other customers, using a tractor trailer or straight truck
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid Class A CDL (0-6 months of experience is fine for external hires)
- At least 21 years old
- Clean driving record for the past 3 years
- Must pass a drug screen and road test
- Current DOT medical card
- Able to lift and move cases weighing roughly 60 to 90 pounds using a hand truck, lift gate or similar equipment
What you'll do
- Complete PFG's entry-level driver training program
- Ride along with and assist a trainer on real deliveries
- Run pre- and post-trip inspections on your tractor and trailer
- Check loaded freight against invoices and paperwork
- Deliver orders on your assigned route, unload and verify items with customers
- Collect payment when needed and bring back any returns
- Log your hours and keep required records up to date
